Faith Baptist Church

Frequently Asked Questions

"What are your worship services like?"

We participate in what is called "blended worship", a mixture of traditional hymns and newer praise songs/choruses. Also included would be various musical instruments, praise teams and choirs, readings, and drama from time to time that enhance the preaching of God's Word.

"What Bible version do you use?"

We have always loved and used the King James Version (KJV), and will continue to do so along with the use of the New King James Version (NKJV), the New Living Translation (NLT), the New International Version (NIV), the New American Standard Bible (NASB), and the recently published English Standard Version (ESV).  These are the primary versions used in our preaching and teaching ministries. There are a variety of study Bibles used by our people, but the versions these are based upon are primarily those listed above.

"How do you view spiritual gifts and their use?"

We believe that Christians have at least one spiritual gift, and that they are to be exercised within the context and ministries of the local church. We belive that some gifts mentioned in the New Testament have ceased, and therefore we would be non - though not 'anti' - charismatic/Pentecostal.

"What is the basic demographic group of your church?"

We are blessed with a broad age spectrum and balance of men and women. Due to the nature of the growth of Streetsboro and the surrounding communities, we have a lot of families with children and teens. Therefore we have a strong AWANA program and a large and active teen youth group. We are focusing continually on the needs of adults in all ways through our Adult Bible Fellowships. We also have a very active group of seniors who contribute greatly to the church. Streetsboro has historically been a "blue collar" community, but the growth trends indicate a more managerial and "gray collar" societal change, which is reflected in our congregation.

"What kind or affiliation of Baptist Church are you?"

We are first of all an independent, evangelical, Baptist church identifying with the historic Baptist distinctives and beliefs. We associate with the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches (GARBC) , the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches and similar local associations. We enjoy fellowship with many non-Baptist churches and pastors in our area, as well as the teaching and media ministries connected with the Moody Bible Institute.  In June of 2002 we formally joined the Chapel Consortium Association, drawing us into closer connection with The Chapel in Akron, Ohio.  This association is very informal, but builds on mutual sharing of resources for growth and impact in the greater Akron area.
