Faith Baptist Church

Dear Partners,

We, the Batista's, are praising our God for His unfailing love and for His endless grace expecially after a heath crisis I have been through since the second Sunday of this month.

We want to tahnk you for all of your prayers in our behalf for the e-mails that you have sent to us. Frankly, I am not able to describe the importance of knowing that you care for us the way you have demonstrated lately, but we sure appritiate it.

I will do my best to describe my recent past and present heath condition as best as I can without too many words. Before we came to Dallas, Tx., my blood sugar level was 433! Most of you know that 100 should be normal for all of us. After checking the results of all the lab tests done in Montijo, doctors in Dallas and nurses told me that I was in a very critical health condition back then. The lab exams revealed that seceral of my vital organs suffered a type of set back, such as my heart (an acute coronary crisis), my brain, my vision, plus other factors that I am not able to explain. My blood pressure was a lot higher than normal. Without knowing what was going on there, I now describethat situation to what Psalm 23:4 says.

We arrived in Dallas exactly a week ago. We took one day to rest from a long trip from Liston to Dallas. Our children met us at the Dallas airport, and we have been under their tending loving care, for which we thank and praise the Lord. Ivan, our younger son who works at Baylor Hospital of Dallas as an R.N. is helping in so many ways. God has used him to find the proper doctors help.

Presently I am under a demanding treatment for Diabetes, which includes taking insulin twice a day, two insulin pills per day, one aspirin to thin my blood, daily exercise, walking or johhing, and a very demanding restricted diet. Two days ago I took a stress test to check my hearts condition, and I am glad to report to you that result could not be better, under the circumstances. So I will continue this treatment for a month, and after, we will return to Dr. Cesar Gomez to see the results of the step I  am taking.

Dr. Maese, (cardiologist) encountered me to keep working hard on what I need to do, and he said if I do it, there is a great possibility to live my life free of diabetes. By the way I  had the opportunity to share the Lord with doctor Mease during my visit with him. I praise God for the opportunity and will continue looking for the open door God may open for me during this time with my health condition.

Please do not stop praying for the Miratejo Church. God is using my sickness to wake them up and take charge of what needs to be done in the church for the furtherance of the Godpel in Portugal during our absence. Please remember these names: Mario Pina, our youth pastor who is responsible for the spiritual ministry of the church together with our partner Doug Fry and our decons (Sanha, Hernani, Mario, Noel, Marcos Borges; Tiago Proenca, Debora, Lidia and Mario, responsible for the Program and music ministries; Elisa Nunes, Social Lady of the church; Isabel David and Silvia Mendonca, secretaries of the church: Adilson, Henrique and Thulio (responsible for the media departments); Mario, Avelina and Francelina, Treasury; Adriana, Custodian. These folks are working hard to continue our ministry in Mireatejo . Please preay for the Christmas Program they are preparing for December the 20th, at a public building in our neighborhood.

Thank you for bearing with us until now to receive this updated report. And may the Lord bless you with double portions of His riches and grace during this THANKSGIVING. Enjoy the turkey, the pumpkin pie, and plus. I will enjoy my died food. We do not yet have a phone number because we have not had time to find the best temporary offer. I will write down Ivan and his wife Kelsey's address.

In His love and grace,

Evandro and Elina Batista.
